Using your business to sponsor local sporting clubs – like your local basketball club, is an excellent way to demonstrate corporate social responsibility, and get involved and support your local community. Sporting sponsorships aren’t just for big teams and players, small businesses are able to reap multiple benefits from contributing to local sporting clubs and vice versa for the local clubs.
Here are a few reasons why your business should sponsor your local basketball club:
1. Increase awareness of your company’s offerings – With each sponsorship partnership, the benefits for the sponsor – company name on uniforms/ in the club name, website advertising or field signage increase the business’s profile within the community as branding is showcased in front of parents, coaches, managers, players and spectators.
2. Builds goodwill – Businesses that support youth sports initiatives understand the importance of young people participating in sport which instills loyalty among an organisation’s current and prospective customers.
3. Reduce club participation costs – Increased funding from the sponsor to the club provides additional resources which enables clubs to help keep the participations costs affordable for all players.
4. Welcomed form of advertising – The costs of traditional advertising platforms (TV, radio, print) can be very expensive, especially for small businesses. However, the increased business profile through sponsorship is highly cost effective and evokes a sense of trust and faith from the community.
OKG Property Management, a local family owned Australian property management business whom are the new Major Sponsors of the Caboolture Suns for the 2016/17 BQJBC season. Both OKG and the Caboolture Suns have a strong focus on creating a family-like atmosphere within the business and club, which made the decision for the sponsorship ‘a no brainer’ according to the Suns Rep Program Manager, Rebecca Schwerin. This is the first time a team in the BQJBC competition has had a major sponsor, and Basketball Queensland certainly hope there are more to follow.
Through the partnership, the OKG company logo will be placed on all team uniforms and the money given from OKG will be put back into the Caboolture Suns club to help reduce costs for players to attend State Championships. OKG Director, Peter O’Keefe has also granted the funds for an acceleration clinic for the team to advance their skills in preparation for the upcoming season. This contribution is invaluable to the Suns, as it provides all players with the opportunity to participate due to reduced club membership costs.
Through the partnership, OKG hope to increase their profile within the local community and reach more like minded people who are wanting better property management service for their investments. OKG play an active role within the Caboolture Suns, attending some of the club’s home and away games, and will also be invited to the BQJBC break up.
Sporting sponsorships are an invaluable opportunity for both businesses and sporting organisations, being both an engaging and positive way for brands to market themselves and providing new opportunities for the clubs they partner with. OKG Property Management and the Caboolture Suns both look forward to working together in the future and help increase their profiles within the community.
