Basketball Queensland currently runs two development programs to progress our identified referees towards higher levels of basketball – State Referee Development Program (SRDP) and National Referee Development Program (NRDP).

State Referee Development Program (SRDP)
Basketball Queensland introduced the SRDP in 2015-16, to further assist in providing development pathways to our State’s referees. SRDP forms an underpinning program to our National Referee Development Program (NRDP), providing an advanced pathway for referees from Advanced Grade through to their State Grade (Level 2). This feeds into NRDP’s purpose of identifying and developing officials with the potential to be the referee at National / International level
Referees who progress through the SRDP should (upon graduating) have achieved a level of knowledge and experience to be in contention for selection to the Under 14 National Junior Club Championships, as well as being considered for progression into the NRDP in future years.

SRDP Selection Criteria
To be eligible for selection to the SRDP an official must:
- Be an active official with your local association, officiating at least 8 games per month, as well as officiating junior representative basketball;
- Have been invited to attend Under 16 and/or Under 18 State Championships in 2014 or 2015;
- Have demonstrated a professional and commendable attitude to their refereeing;
- Be aged between 15 and 24; and
- Currently graded as either an Advanced or Representative Grade referee (note: Intermediate Grade referees will be considered on a case-by-case basis).
Applications for the 2016-17 intake of SRDP will be open in May/June 2016.

The desirable pathway for the referee is to progress through NRDP and (upon graduating) to have achieved a level of knowledge and experience to be in contention for selection to the Under 20 National Junior Championships.
