Basketball Queensland would like to officially announce the two coaches who have been appointed to coach the 2018 U20’s State Teams! We would like to congratulate both coaches on their appointment, and wish them and their teams every success at the National Championships next year!
Basketball Queensland would like to acknowledge the outstanding performance from the Australian Crocs and Sapphires who both took home Gold at the 2017 FIBA Oceania U17 Championships which were held in Hagatna, Guam!
Thanks to an arrangement between Basketball Queensland and the National Basketball League (NBL), the 2017 QBL season has seen some extraordinary referee talent, with three NBL referees coming up to give some of our up and coming QBL referees some NBL veteran referee experience.
Just as players are expected to train and attend clinics to improve their performance, the same goes for coaches to ensure they continue learning and developing their skills and knowledge learnt in the Level 1 and 2 Coaching Accreditation Courses.
In light of the 2017 Emerging Teams embarking on the 2017 Emerging Team USA Tour, we wanted to see what some of our previous emerging players have been up to! We caught up with Grace George and Jace Arnold who were both part of the 2016 U17 Emerging Teams to hear how being in an Emerging Team helped shape their basketball journey and what they got out of their experience:

From April 2 – 14 the U12 Boys and Girls, U14 Boys and Girls, and U16 Girls State Championships were held. Basketball Queensland would like to acknowledge and thank all associations, and attendees for their hard work, both in the lead up to and during these Championships and congratulate the joint winners of the Vince Hickey Award: Cairns and Southern Districts!
