
Townsville Basketball completed the double in the Under 16 State Championships on the Gold Coast winning both the Boys and Girls Division 1 Gold Medal games.
Townsville Flames won a tense grand final against the North Gold Coast Seahawks 66-57 to claim the Girls Division 1 title. In the Bronze Medal playoff, Southern Districts Spartans were too strong for the Cairns Dolphins winning 59-39. Logan Thunder narrowly missed out on a semi-final berth after finishing in a three-way tie with Southern Districts and Cairns.
Townsville continued their Gold Medal winning ways by claiming the Division 2 title with the Lightning beating Caboolture 64-57. SC Phoenix Teal finished in third place defeating Southern Districts Titans to win bronze 62-53.

Townsville’s top boys’ team, the Heat, won a pulsating Gold Medal game against Southern Districts Spartans 66-61 to become State Champions. Northside Wizards 1 denied Cairns another chance at a medal with a 93-68 win in the Bronze Medal game. It was a fantastic result for the Wizards considering they were 6th on the BQJBC ladder heading into the tournament. Cairns were able to scrape into the semi-finals thanks to a win over Logan in the pool stage.
In Division 2, Southern Districts Titans won gold against Northside Wizards 2 64-56 whilst SC Phoenix won another bronze medal against the hometown Gold Coast Breakers 66-60.
South West Metro Pirates Purple were too strong for the Logan Storm Blue outfit in the Division 3 Gold Medal game winning 63-43. Toowoomba claimed their only medal of the tournament with the Mountaineers beating Brisbane’s third team 97-72 to win bronze.
