Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 – Basketball
The long-awaited Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games begins tomorrow! The next two weeks will be jammed packed with lots of exciting and nail-biting events as one of the biggest sporting events of the decade kicks off.
The basketball tournament is commencing on the 5th April and North Queensland will host some of the best basketball teams as they compete in the chase for the gold medal. The preliminary matches and qualifying finals will be held by Cairns Convention Centre and Townsville & Convention Centre between 5th – 10th April, with the competition, then continuing on the Gold Coast where semi-finals and medal games will be played from 13th -15th April.
The opening games of the tournament start on the 5th of April with England meeting Scotland and the women’s competition tips off with Jamaica against India.

There are still great tickets available in both of the Cairns and Townsville locations. Tickets are only $30 for adults and $15 for children. Get the chance to see world-class basketball at its best and to be a part of one the biggest sporting events in Australia.
Australia has announced both the Boomers and Opals squads who will represent the nation for the first time in the Commonwealth Games since 2006 in Melbourne where both teams walked away with Gold medals.
