Coaches shared their knowledge at Basketball QLD Coaching Course
Last weekend, 20 coaches from a variety of coaching backgrounds and experience levels came together to continue their journey in learning our game and how to effectively pass on their knowledge and passion to players in an Association Coaching course held at the Queensland Academy of Sport at Nathan.
Newly appointed Game Development Manager for Basketball Queensland, Warwick Cann kicked off proceedings introducing the course and a who’s who of presenters, all whom are leaders in their field. Thanks to all our presenters Andre Lemanis – Bullets Head Coach, Mick – Downer Bullets AC, Mel Downer – State Performance Manager BQ, CJ Bruton – Bullets AC, Warwick Cann – Game Development Manager BQ, Bo Hanson – Athlete Assessments, Adam Gorman – Skill Acquisition Lecturer, University of the Sunshine Coast, Jason Chainey – Adelaide Lightning AC, Bruce Palmer – NBL Championship Coach, Jason Fiddes – Player Welfare Officer BQ, Adam Morrow – QBL Referee, Tom Kyle – World Championship Coach Rollers, Stew Briggs – Acceleration Australia, David Claxton – NBL Coach Brisbane, Adelaide, Gold Coast & Wollongong.
Thanks to our coaches who have invested in their craft!
“My expectations were pretty high given the list of speakers, but my expectations were easily exceeded. There was a range of both age and experience within the course but I thought everyone gelled perfectly. Everyone contributed where they felt they had something to add and any moments where a lack of experience was evident (having to display a lack of talent at two-ball dribbling in front of CJ Bruton is a particular cringe moment that will stay with me for a while) was dealt with in a spirit of fun rather than judgement.” – Adrian Boniface – U14 Club Coach from Toowoomba.
